SpHyDir Updates

Some time ago, Howard Gilbert , who runs the PC Lube And Tune site, created a Webpage editor named SpHyDir, for Structured Professional Hypertext Directory editor. He stopped development of this tool a while back, citing technical difficulties with Warp 3 fixpacks and limitations of VX-REXX. I, however, continued to use the package.

Here is a version of SpHyDir that has some features added (like Java Applet Support), some bugs removed, some HTML generation changed, and (sigh) some new bugs added. Those of you who are SpHyDir fans will probably want to try this. If I get enough feedback , I may even enhance the documentation.

SpHyDir is written in VX-REXX, and so needs the VX-REXX Runtime DLL, vrobj.dll, in order to run. This can be hard to find these days, so here's the version I use. Just download, unzip, and place the DLL in your LIBPATH somewhere (mine's in c:\os2\apps\dll).

Mostly, I work on SpHyDir while I do web page stuff, to try and correct problems as they come up. Here's a short list of some of the issues I've handled.

RxCP290

The X-10 company has for years provided a cost-effective and popular means for control of the lights and appliances in the home, by means of the X-10 Home Control System. X-10's CP290 Home Control Interface provides the hardware required to control the X-10 modules from your computer's serial port. Now you can combine the capabilities of the X-10 system with the Power and Flexibility of OS/2, and OS/2's REXX language, with RxCP290 - the REXX Interface to X-10 Home Control.

RxCP290 is an extension of OS/2's built-in REXX language that provides functions for communicating to the CP290 Home Control Interface for X-10. This allows you to control X-10 modules and functions in your home or office from OS/2 REXX Programs.

RxCP290 is Distributed as Shareware. This Demonstration Version is the same as the Release Version in all respects, except that the Upload and Download of CP290 Timer Events is disabled for this demonstration version. The Full Release Version, with these functions enabled, is available from BMT Micro .

WinCam support for OS/2

StarDot Technologies makes a really nice digital camera, and gave it the awful name of WinCam. Here's a package with a couple of utilities for using the Wincam in OS/2, ported from the Linux support code. These utils and library require EMX 0.9c, and the source is included in the ZIP.
