There are many
ways you can fight high-tech type crimes. Here are a few simple
suggestions:
Be careful when giving out personal information online, such as address, phone number, or credit card numbers.
Closely inspect your phone and credit card bills for any unusual or incorrect activities.
Make sure that passwords are not easy to guess; contain at least eight characters; and use both upper and lower case characters. Change your password often and keep it to yourself.
Use anti virus software to protect your computer system.
At work develop and follow a company wide policy of computer safety.
At home monitor your children's computer use.
If a computer crime occurs, notify law enforcement immediately so that the offender can be caught. The Cincinnati Police Division has a Computer Crime Squad to investigate these crimes.
