Mars Rovers LEGO Lab

The Mars Rover project is a LEGO Educational Division product suitable for all ages that allows students to construct their own Mars Rovers out of LEGO bricks and guide them through a simulated Mars environment.

Using LEGO, students design and build their own unique Mars Rovers, based on the real NASA rover that landed on Mars January 2004. Students use their rovers to explore a completely new environment, just as scientists explore the strange surface of Mars.

Middle and high school students can build the rover according to given design challenges which set specific limits! These can include a certain weight, or with a certain number of parts, or rovers that operate at certain speeds, or withstand certain conditions.

All age groups will find this a fun and challenging field trip. Experience the thrill of combining engineering and exploration!

Mars Adventure!

Drake Planetarium and Science Center offers a unique opportunity for students to learn more about our closest planetary neighbor through a 2-part field trip at our facility. One hour will be devoted to the study of Mars in our 70-seat planetarium, featuring the MarsQuest program. An additional hour and a half will be reserved for the hands-on creation of individual rovers in our Mars Rover LEGO lab.
