Regional Assistive Technology Resource Centers

The KATS Network collaborates with and provides support for several Assistive Technology Resource Centers around Kentucky. Currently there are four such Centers along with two satellite centers in Eastern Kentucky which provide information and support to consumers, educators, parents, and others who are in need of information, assistive technology, or related services.

The mission of the Bluegrass technology Center is to support and assist all persons with in their efforts to access technology and to increase their awareness and understanding of how technology can enhance their ability to participate more fully in the community. We seek to help redefine human potential by making technology a regular part of the lives of people with disabilities. The Bluegrass Technology Center is a twelve year old consumer driven, non-profit organization assisting individuals with disabilities, their families and service providers obtain technologies that provide the gateway to greater independence, productivity, and quality of life. The Assistive Technology Center at Redwood Rehabilitation Center offers a variety of services to support the successful use of technology by children and adults with disabilities. For over 40 years Redwood has been a landmark in Northern Kentucky. In keeping with the tradition of excellence, Redwood has entered into a partnership with the Cincinnati Association for the Blind. This collaboration combines the strength and resources of these two well established agencies to better meet the technology needs of consumers, families and professionals in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati community. Further support for technology through an agreement with the KATS Network has resulted in expansion of Redwood's existing technology services into an Assistive Technology Center offering services including:

The Western Kentucky Assistive Technology Center (WKATC) was established in March of 1994 to support and enhance the development of an assistive technology service delivery system in Western Kentucky.

The Cumberland River Comprehensive Care (CRCC) Assistive Technology Program was initiated in June 1997 to enhance assistive technology service delivery in Southeastern Kentucky. In the Fall of 1997 the assistive technology program was asked to participate with the Kentucky Assistive Technology Services Network (KATS), becoming one of two pilot sites for the Appalachian Assistive Technology Consortium.

Mission: The CRCC Assistive Technology Program seeks to provide information about, and access to assistive technology services in Southeastern Kentucky; and seeks to increase community awareness regarding the opportunities made possible through assistive technology.
