But, for Dina Eastwood, it’s true. Dina has been in front of the camera herself since her college days, beginning as a news anchor in Flagstaff, Arizona then to KSBW in California as a reporter, and was quickly promoted to anchor. It took an assignment—a segment on golf—before Dina picked up a golf club. Although she had an opportunity to play golf as a teenager, and her father was a golf coach for her high school classmates, Dina wasn’t interested in learning. After she declared that a "putter" was a "driver" in the golf segment, though, her father suggested that she learn more about golf, and took her to the driving range.
Dina has been playing for about five years, and is a very good technical golfer. One of Dina’s golfing partners, Nancy Haley (CEO of Tehama), says "she has great talent, and a great swing. In fact, some have said that she can swing like one of the guys." Like most golfers, she too has small inconsistencies that can be frustrating. When she and Clint play, he can help her with her game. As she plays, she compares the good shots with the ‘not-so-good’ ones to see what she may have done differently. Clint told Nancy, "The first thing she does when she gets up in the morning is turn on The Golf Channel." Dina usually plays the golf courses around her home: Tehama Golf Club (owned by Clint), Cypress Point, and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. "When Dina is not filming ‘Candid Camera,’ and when Clint is not shooting a movie, they can usually be found on the golf course. And, of course, they only wear Tehama sportswear," says Nancy Haley.
