Portland Maritime Trolley Tours and Heritage Event
Trolley tours, maritime demonstrations and games, and a Preservation Awards Ceremony will highlight Portland's Maritime Heritage on Saturday, June 14th, 2008. Awards Ceremony begins at 1PM at the Portland Museum followed by other family fun activities and trolley tours. Reservations are recommended and can be made in advance by calling the museum.

Representative John Yarmuth's aides will deliver congressional awards for outstanding work along with Richard Jett of Metro Louisville Government's Preservation Office. Trolley tours will highlight key historic sites as part of a larger planning effort to create self guided interpretive trails through the community to promote heritage tourism. The project is supported in part by a Preserve America grant, administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. Demonstrations for knot tying and live on stage story telling of life on the river will throughout the event. Museum exhibits and gift shop will be open.
