The purpose of World Youth Day is to
take up the main concern of Pope John Paul II – a renewal of
evangelization in today’s world. Participants are invited to become fully
involved in parish life so they may lead the Church both now and in the
future. Through the inspiration of the pope and the international
community, young people walk away inspired to learn what it means to be
holy, to follow God’s call in their lives, and to become the saints of
tomorrow by changing the world around them today.
